It is vitally important to select the correct fitting frames। This ensures optimal comfort, stability and also allows the wearer to look throught the lenses correctly. On each frame there are many details which allows us and you to help determine the overall suitability of size and fit. We have detailed a few simplified pointers below to help you understand these a little more.
This guide has been compiled to make the online experience as easy and efficient as possible for you। My first hand retail / clinical experience allows me to give you the following information which will help you choose the right frame and allow you to properly understand the various lens options available on the market। Once you have read through this guide, you will be able to make that calculated informed choice!
What do the Frame Measurements mean?
e।g:

56 is the lens diameter in mm,
16 is the bridge width in mm,
145 is the side/arm length in mm,

From our personal experience we would categorise the frame diameters in to the following sizes:
40 to 47 = small size
48 to 51 = medium size
52 above = large size
Do remember the arm length of the frames can usually be adjusted to individually fit the wearer correctly. Dispensing opticians tend to adjust the arm length to make the fit of the frames more tight or more loose, depending on the wearer.
Also:
On each of our frames at Glasses Complete, our “Dispensing Optician” has added two further measurements to give you a clearer idea on the frame dimensions:
Frame Width = total width from one side of the frame to the other in mm. This allows for the head with.
Frame Depth = Distance between top of the frame rim to the bottom rim in mm. This measurement allows me to decide whether the glasses are suitable for bifocals or not!
The above measurements do not have to exactly match your existing frames, however, the closer they are then more comfortable the fit (providing your existing glasses are comfortable for you).
